Biography

Yuxia Zhang obtained her PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007, followed by 2 years post-doctoral training in the Rudd Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2007-2008). She joined the Harrison Laboratory at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in February 2009 and was promoted to Senior Research Officer in 2014. She was appointed Lab Head April 2016 at Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center (GWCMC). She bridges mouse and human immunology studies with cutting-edge genetic and epigenetic, metabolomic and cell signaling methodologies, and has identified novel pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic agents in pediatric-onset inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic diseases. Her lab currently focuses on diseases affecting the lung, intestine and liver, as well as molecular mechanisms underlying childhood autoinflammatory diseases (AID) and immunodeficiency (PID).
